Supermarket Changes Advice on Freezing

Sainsbury’s Supermarkets has recently changed the advice is have given consumer on freezing fresh products. Previously is has always stated on the label that the product should be frozen on the day of purchase.

But in order to reduce food waste it has changed the advice to “Freeze as soon as possible up the to products use by date”

Last year the Food Standards Agency launched a new advice on Shelf Life Rules for many products in order to save the billions of pounds of food which is needlessly wasted every year.

It will be interesting to measure to effect the Sainsbury’s advice will have on reducing the food waste.
